Praia da Rocha’s wooden boardwalk lets you enjoy the beach without pushing a stroller through soft sand. Take a sea-air stroll, pause for a drink, and keep the beach-day pace as gentle as you like.
The boardwalk is the easier part of the outing; beach entrances and routes from the apartment can differ. Check step-free access locally, and allow for sand on the boards. We haven’t verified a fully step-free route from the apartment.

Praia da Rocha is a wonderfully broad stretch of golden sand, framed by cliffs and the Atlantic. There’s space for sandcastles, beach games and a slow walk along the shore — without making the day a complicated excursion.
The independent Algarve Tourist guide describes it as the Algarve’s widest beach, around 200 metres wide. The stretch of sand you see varies with the tide.
Read the flags
A wide beach is not a promise of calm water. Follow beach flags and lifeguards, and supervise children closely.
Keep the day simple
Stroll on the boards rather than the sand, take breaks, and save some energy for the walk home.
